Common fault diagnosis methods for single-phase motors

1) The power supply wiring is open (the motor is completely silent). There should be no voltage at both ends of the measuring terminal block.

2) The main winding or auxiliary winding is broken. The method of measuring the DC resistance can determine whether the circuit is open.

3) The centrifugal switch contact is not closed, so that the auxiliary winding cannot be energized to work. The connection point of the main winding and the auxiliary winding is disconnected, and then it can be determined by measuring the DC resistance, or it can be determined by the method of the second part.

4) The starting capacitor wiring is open or internally open. The search method is the same as item 3) above.

5) For shaded pole motors, shaded pole coils (short circuit rings) are open or fall off. For the short-circuit loop setting that can be seen externally, it can often be found by observation, otherwise it can be determined by the method of the second part.

6) For series excited motors, there are no brushes or cannot contact the commutator due to too short brushes, jamming, etc., or the brush leads are disconnected, or the armature winding and magnetic field winding are open inside.
